Description: Original lacquer on a panel painting by celebrated Vietnamese artist Thanh Le Cong (1931-Now). This painting shows farmers in a field, behind an ox pulling a cart. This painting came from a Virginia estate. It is signed and mounted.

  • Notes: About the Artist: Le Cong Thanh was born in Danang 1931. He graduated from the College of Fine Arts of Hanoi in Vietnam (1962) as well as from the Moscow School of Arts (1970). Thanh is considered today to be the dean of Vietnamese sculptors and the artist who has embraced all the conflicts of his culture and the dispute between tradition and modernity. He was an art professor from 1963 to 1985. His best-known work is a 30-meter monument entitled Victory, made to commemorate the end of the war. His work is dominated by the human figure, particularly the female form. In 2001 he won the Vietnam State Award and the First-Class Labor Order.  His work has been present at the Vietnam Fine Art Museum since 1970 and in collections and galleries around the world such as Vietnam, France, Italy, US, Holland, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Singapore and Korea.
