Persian Kerman rug, made of 100% natural wool on a cotton foundation. This rug is in excellent condition with beautiful colors and made with excellent quality. No holes, nice and soft, with a gorgeous design. This rug was acquired from a Virginia estate. Clean and ready to be enjoyed. Recent embargoes by the U.S. against Iranian goods should cause the value of these rugs to increase.
Notes: Kerman rugs are one of the most recognizable within the Persian rug category. Kerman is an ancient city, with an incredible history going back over a 1000+ years. Marco Polo was one of the first westerners to view Kerman rugs. A typical pattern for Kerman rugs is a floral in the main border with a central medallion in the field. Kerman rugs are distinctive, desirable - and, if in good condition, valuable. Many of the Kerman rugs produced have at least one feature in common - the Damask rose, whose flower is not only used as a figurative motif incorporated into the rug design.
