  • About the Artist: Katherine Coralee Burch was born in 1943 and grew up on West Water Street in Elmira, New York during the golden 50's - the youngest of five children, daughter to Hobart and Margaret Marshall Burch. She attended Elmira Free Academy with Heisman trophy winner Ernie Davis, whose biography "A Halo for a Helmet" she published in 2008. Unlike other accounts of his life, which focused on his athleticism, Katherine Coralee Burch wrote about his unbreakable spirit as a young black man growing up in an era of racial segregation. Katherine Coralee Burch was intensely interested in people, and anyone who met her felt instantly special. She was strongly empathetic and would instantly understand what people were going through and shared that back with them creating a deep sense of connection and lasting personal impact. Katherine Coralee Burch was eminently creative in all her endeavors - as a television producer, radio talk show host, freelance writer, and as a prolific artist, having studied wood sculpture in Florence, Italy. "Art is my passion, my joy, my ability to overcome adversity, my opportunity to express myself, and it's just plain fun."
