  • Omar Khayam Pictorial rugs are made in Isfahan, which is worldwide known for its unique quality of handmade carpets, as they reflect the special beauty of the city’s architecture, art and handicrafts. The patterns used in these carpets are often inspired by beautiful gardens, natural landscapes and king’s palaces. Carpets of Isfahan have high-class, when it comes to the composition of the patterns, materials and designs, giving out a sense of luxury and excellence. The high knot density places Isfahan carpets to the top category of Persian handmade rugs. Isfahan carpets are thought to be among the finest of all Persian carpets today. The man depicted on this pictorial carpet is the famous Omar Khayyam (May 1048 – December 1131). His scientific studies in the fields of astronomy, mechanics, mineralogy and mathematics place him amongst the most influential of that time, making him worthy of the title true polymath. He was also a great poet. His best poet work is The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám. This is the title that Edward FitzGerald gave to his translation of a selection of poems, originally written in Persian and numbering about a thousand, attributed to Omar Khayyám. The patterns on this unique piece of art depict the central idea of the poems of the great poet Omar Khayyam. This Pictorial Carpet is definitely one of the rarest, finest and most valuable carpets in the world.
